Inspiration for Canoe Series: One day at the local restaurant, I was given books about hand building by my friend, Ashley. Her step-father had been a ceramic artist and was retiring. Having remembered my journey in becoming an artist- she gifted me his books. Ashley also shared the actual canoe he had made for her. So beautifully small. A canoe meant for a pocket or the palm of your hand. A small bird resting on the bow. With their permission, I designed my own canoe replica as a homage to home. That the true gift is community, to be seen and to be known.
